I make no apology for bringing this up for perhaps the 20th time over the last 20 years.
Simply put, I have repeatedly contended, as confirmed by an on line top Criminologist, that South Africa suffers from a wall-to-wall culture of deviance across the board, vertically and horizontally ... across all race/ethnic groups ...and that if this was not comprehensively addressed ...
it would fail ...
would fail to achieve its potential ...
and slide to failed State status.
Now we are all witnessing live ... this culture playing out as a vomitus, nightmarish pageant, day and night ...
unchecked in a diabolical mood of egregious impunity. ..
as vandalism, looting and even homicide abound ...
to the tune of Rand billion prejudice.
The people doing this are not criminals. They are ordinary human beings like you and I.
They are doing this driven by a culture of deviance internalized over a period going back to the very corrupt apartheid era.

but the thing is that my Ndebele Gogo would have sjamboked me if I had stolen one slice of bread.
Notable ... VERY Notable, is that ANC leadership, that has been governing, has done NOTHING about this !!! NOTHING WHATSOVER !!!
There can be only two possible reasons for this -
a) gross incompetence; and/or
b) a leadership that is pathologically anomic itself.
My prediction is that the Zondo Commission Report will confirm BOTH !!!
If this culture is not addressed ... competently addressed with the help of experts ...
South Africa is DOOMED !!!!
